P.T.A. Introduction
The P.T.A. committee leads a team of committed, supportive and hardworking helpers.
They organise lively fundraising events, which take place at regular intervals during the year. This gives everybody the chance to take part with an activity they enjoy; barbecues, quizzes, discos, treasure hunts and fairs. Please see our most recent events below. Please also click on our links to view other details about up and coming events etc.
The Manor Park P.T.A. is a registered charity run by a group of parent volunteers. Its aim is to raise money to provide extras for the pupils, to enrich their time and experience at our school.
How is the fundraising done?
The PTA organises events throughout the year which, for the last three years, have raised in excess of £10,000 annually. We organise three school fairs each year, as well as a variety of other events such as a Fashion Show, Bingo, Mothers’ Day Shop, Beetle Drive, Race Night and producing Christmas Cards. For March 2009 we are also working on a School Pantomime. All of these events raise considerable funds as well as bringing the school, families and local community together.
What is the money spent on?
Over the last few years we have spent the money in many ways including
- Technology – helping to provide a White Board for every class, a video camera, Coomber CD players, Televisions and DVD players.
- Arts – helping to fund Arts Weeks; last year the PTA funded a Sculptor to work at the school for a week.
- Learning – Life Education Van visit, bringing musicians to the school and Library refurbishment.
- School additional facilities – Recycling bins throughout the school, a new cooker, BBQ for Year 4 leavers who are also presented with a Bible or Thesaurus.
How can I help?
All help in whatever capacity is always gratefully received, as are new fundraising ideas and suggestions. We normally have a meeting each half term which is always announced in the school newsletter. Meetings are informal, relaxed and friendly and take place in the staff room at 7.30pm. If you can come along to the next one you will be very welcome.
