Manor Minors is an after school and holiday club which provides care and supervision for children while their parents are working.
The club is currently operating in the school bungalow. It is fully approved by Social Services and caters for up to
26 children from 5-12 years. It is open before and after school and during the holidays. For the Autumn term only, it is open from 12.15-3.15pm for reception children.
Whilst the club is a separate entity from Manor Park School, it aims to foster close links with the school and will operate as far as possible in accordance with the school ethos and policies.
REGISTRATION & FEES
All children who attend the
Club must be registered, for which a fee of £5 per child is payable.
Fee invoices are issued
monthly (usually to the last Friday of the month) and should reach
parents no later than the 10th of the following month.
Prompt settlement is very much appreciated in order to keep our
costs down. Please detach and return the remittance slip, together
with your cheque/cash, retaining the upper portion of the invoice
for your records. A receipt will not normally be issued, but is
available upon request. A current price list is enclosed (or is
available upon request).
Should you prefer to pay in
advance or for 'one-off' sessions, please ask for a self-billing
invoice which should be completed and handed to the club leader
(together with your payment) upon confirmation of the relevant
booking(s). Block-booked reservations are available but only
subject to the payment of a retainer fee – please speak to the club
leader for further details.
TERM
TIME
MORNING SESSION:
The club opens at 7.45am and the children enjoy simple play
activities until 8.50am when they are taken to their respective unit
within the school, or to the playground for aerobics when the
weather is fine. The part-session charge applies for children
arriving at or AFTER 8.15am.
AFTER-SCHOOL SESSION:
The children are
collected from school at 3.15pm and enjoy supervised play and
organised activities until 6pm. At the END OF THE SESSION please
ensure that your child is collected no later than 6pm, after
which an additional charge will be incurred. The part-session
charge applies for children collected BEFORE 4.30pm.
AUTUMN TERM (only):
An afternoon lunch/play club is available, designed specifically
to cater for RECEPTION children (who attend school only until
midday), providing childcare through until 3.15pm.
HOLIDAY CLUB
The club operates from
7.45am to 5.45pm, with a lunch break at approximately 12.30pm.
Throughout the day children will enjoy organised play and
activities, both indoor and outdoor (weather permitting). There are
also special activity days and pre-arranged outings/trips to local
venues, details as advertised.
The holiday club
charges an hourly fee, therefore hours can be tailored to meet your
requirements within the prescribed operating times, providing added
flexibility.
ABSENCE
If your child is
unwell, please advise the club leader immediately and keep them away
from the club until they are fit and well. For HOLIDAY LEAVE and
OTHER OCCASIONAL ABSENCE please advise the club leader giving as
much notice as possible in order to allow time to re-allocate the
vacant place. Where insufficient notice is given (less than five
working days) a non-attendance fee will be payable. PLEASE NOTE:
To ensure the safety and security of all children, if your child
will not be attending a booked session, for whatever reason, the
club MUST be notified.
MEDICINES
Where possible every
effort should be made to administer these at home. The club
follows a medicine policy as detailed in the clubs 'Policies &
Procedures' – see page 2.
CONTACT WITH STAFF
Parents are welcome to
come into the club at the end of the session, either to have a brief
word with staff or to view something which your child wishes to show
you. If you have any queries or concerns please make an appointment
with the club leader at a mutually convenient time. For complaints
procedures please refer to 'Policies & Procedures' – see below.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS
Please ensure that all
items are clearly named, especially uniform. The club cannot take
responsibility for personal possessions or expensive toys, therefore
we prefer that the children DO NOT bring such items to the club.
REFRESHMENTS & LUNCH
During the afternoon
session children will be provided with a healthy snack and drink.
Whilst we do not prohibit them from 'finishing off' leftovers from
their lunchbox, we would aim to promote healthy eating in line with
our Nutrition Policy.
Reception children
attending early afternoon sessions in the Autumn Term will need to
bring a packed lunch to school with them. ALL children attending
the HOLIDAY CLUB for a full day need to bring a packed lunch.
When selecting lunch
box items please bear in mind that we have no refrigeration
facilities, therefore an ice-pack would be advisable in warm
weather. We would also request that:
NO NUTS
are brought onto the premises, as some children have severe nut
allergies
DRINKS in
plastic containers only – NO GLASS.
NO
FIZZY DRINKS or SWEETS
Please ensure that all
containers are clearly labelled with your child's name and class.
BEHAVIOUR AND DISCIPLINE
Our aim is to provide a
stimulating environment in which children develop self-discipline
and self-esteem, treating the club, it's staff and other members
with due respect. Parental support is therefore invaluable. For
full details of the Club's Behaviour Management Policy please refer
'Policies & Procedures' – see below.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A copy of the clubs
current 'Policies and Procedures' is available within the club (see
notice board) for all parents to refer to. Please take the time to
read through these important documents and do not hesitate to
contact the club leader should you have any queries or comments.
A copy of the latest
OFSTED Report is available upon request.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
The club very much
welcomes offers of voluntary help, no matter how much time you can
spare . Similarly, if you have any particular
skills/talents/objects or just a fascinating story which may be of
interest to the children, or you are able to provide any practical
assistance, the club leader would be delighted to hear from you.
The club is run on a
'not for profit' basis by a voluntary MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE, the
parents/guardians of all registered children being members of the
club. Should any parent wish to be nominated for election onto the
Committee, we would be very pleased to hear from them. The Annual
General Meeting is held each February, to which all members are
invited.
