Art

Art is an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum at Manor Park First. We believe that art plays a pivotal role in fostering positive personal, social, and emotional development, as well as nurturing an appreciation for different forms of artistic expression. Our curriculum is designed to empower pupils to develop critical thinking skills, explore their imagination, and deepen their understanding of the visual world around them.

Our intent is guided by the following key principles:

1. Creativity and Self-Expression

We want to cultivate an environment where pupils are encouraged to express their individuality and explore their creativity. By providing a range of stimulating projects and opportunities for experimentation, we aim to develop pupils' confidence in expressing their ideas through various artistic mediums.

2. Cultural Understanding and Appreciation

We are committed to broadening pupils' cultural horizons by exposing them to different art forms, diverse artists, and significant works from various historical periods. Through the exploration of artworks from different cultures, we aim to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of the values, traditions, and heritage of different communities.

3. Skills Development

Our curriculum is designed to progressively develop pupils' technical skills and knowledge in a range of art disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and collage. We aim to provide structured opportunities for pupils to develop their artistic techniques, creativity, and critical thinking abilities.
